Doi Suthep

Another day has finally arrived. Curtis, Steph and I re-packed our stuff again then had some breakfast. Since the breakfast was free and they had constant free fruits to give out, Steph had to get her money's worth! We also decided that we should get things organized before hand so booked all our tickets for Koh Samui and also booked our hostel.

Took the tuk tuk to the new hostel (Gong Kaew). The layout of the place is really nice and the staff are just superb. All the rooms were like little bungalows with bunkbeds. We ended up being in the same room with Keith, Gordy Banks, Christon, and Chris. It sure was a riot. Once we got all our shit settled in, we went for a quick lunch and by the time we got back, Chris got there. So we all headed to Doi Suthep together. However, we learned from the genius that he had lost his visa when he went out partying the other night so he had to go pick up some cash that his dad has transferred over. (Then we find out a week or two later that he had just misplaced it in his OTHER pocket). Yes, we called him 'dum dum' quite a bit on the trip, that and 'sweaty!' So we took the tuk tuk again to get to TaePae Gates. We got there and Chris ended up renting a motorbike to ride up to Doi Suthep (recommended by Frommers). And of course we got ripped off by the tuk tuk driver... it should only cost 40 baht each to get up there, but they wouldnt budge. Oh well, we're used to getting ripped off by now. Anyways, on the way, we bumped into Keith walking around but the tuk tuk driver wouldn't let him on the tuk tuk so he had to take a separate one. So we got to the temple, walked up the temple and just hung out there. Curtis being the little wimp due to his heart condition, couldnt carry anything up... Steph rode the bike the way there and I on the way back... the bike was a piece of shit, the break sucks ass.

By the time we got back, it was time for dinner. Keith suggested a place and it took forever to look for it. We found out that due to the Buddah weekend or something like that, nothing was really open. So we just settled for this other place that turned out to be pretty good as well. Curtis and I had the jungle curry (which sucked shit) and pineapple fried rice. We thought the portions were all still Bangkok portions, so we ordered a large fried rice... it was enough to feed a family of 5!!!!!! fuck!!!! We couldnt finish it so Chris ate half of it... or the majority of it. That boy can eat like its no one's business. We chilled out more at the restaurant to let the food digest then headed back to the hostel. By the time we got back, Agent Gordy Banks and Christon were already asleep to get ready for the next day (trekking). The rest of us hung out for a bit then headed to bed... god knows we needed it for the next day!
